This battle cannot be called fair – the difference in construction between 1.4 and 1.7 usually always makes itself felt. But it so happened that I still have materials that are suitable for such a comparison, and it was decided to use them. Just out of curiosity.

- Targets (buildings) – fixed by gravity power on the distances in more than 200 meters
- ARW post-processing – Capture One, default settings, 100% crops 300×200 px

Minolta MC Rokkor PF 50mm 1:1.7 vs Minolta MD 50mm 1:1.4 – comparison – final conclusion
As expected – we don’t see any surprises. A faster lens has an advantage of one stop, and of course, it uses it – New-MD is ahead of the rival right up to F4.0 inclusive. But the simpler and cheaper Rokkor also has something to praise for – the difference is minimal, and it is generally difficult to see the differences on closed diaphragms.
